LONDON (SHARECAST) - 0825: Nine out of the ten worst performers are miners in early dealings on Thursday. Fresnillo, Xstrata, Antofagasta, Rio Tinto, Anglo American, Vedanta Resources, Eurasian Natural Resources, Kazakhmys and BHP Billiton are on offer. FTSE 100 is down 6 points at 5,336.

FTSE 100 movers: Miners on the march
LONDON (SHARECAST) - Miners are among the top risers, including Rio Tinto , which has accepted a $2.025bn offer for its Alcan Packaging pharmaceutical, tobacco and food divisions from the packaging group Amcor as it continues its programme of asset sales to ease its debt pile.

LONDON (SHARECAST) - 0835: Footsie is flirting with its highs for the year so far with miners back in demand, though it is Barclays that is top of the heap. Rio Tinto has confirmed the sale of its US packaging businesses and leads the mining sector higher accompanied by ENRC and Xstrata.

LONDON (SHARECAST) - Tops stocks are lower with two of the bigger sectors of the market weighing. Royal Bank of Scotland, Barclays and Standard Chartered are down amongst the banks while miners Fresnillo, Rio Tinto, Lonmin and Anglo American also fall.
