The Deal Professor’s 2009 in Review, Part I: No Exit
The mergers and acquisitions landscape circa 2010 isn’t pretty. According to preliminary figures from Thomson Reuters , announced deal volume for the year stands at $1.968 trillion, down 32 percent from $2.885 trillion last year and 53 percent from a record high of $4.166 trillion in 2007. More perilously, investment banking advisory fees fell 46 percent from 2008, to $18.9 billion.
